1904 Gold Coin: What is the worth?

I am offered this coin, but I am not too familiar with american coin. What would be the fair value (only the coin, pls ignore the frame and chain) ? Is it a fake?

Looks like a twenty dollar gold piece. net weight .96750 ounce pure gold. Looks a little beat. Looks to me worth just the gold. Could be worth more as jewelry.

Both!..I bought a nice gold coin in a bag of ols silver coins recently @ a garage sale...I didnt discover it until a few days later

this is what it is and I got it for nothing! haha...it looks like it hung from a necklace...Anyway.:stickyman
